Ex Redskins FB Eddie Williams joins Bears

Former Redskins FB Eddie Williams will wear bears jersey. The Bears put another pass-catching option to their backfield Wednesday.

Williams didn’t see any regular-season action as a rookie in Washington. After being selected in the seventh round of the 2009 draft out of Idaho, he was cut before the start of the season and landed on the Redskins’ practice squad. He was promoted to the 53-man roster Nov. 2 and was inactive for three games before breaking his leg in practice and being placed on injured reserve Nov. 23.

Williams was one of 10 players cut by the Redskins last Thursday.

Following of Williams’ slaying

The case of cornerback Darrent Williams with dallas cowboys jersey was clear these days. The man accused of firing the shots proved to be enough.

“He wouldn’t take a fist fight he can’t win, but he’d take a gun fight he can’t lose,” Chief Deputy District Attorney Bruce Levin said of Willie Clark during closing statements in the 26-year-old’s trial. Clark faces 21 charges, including first-degree murder, attempted murder and assault in the New Year’s Day 2007 shooting. Two others were injured in the shooting that killed Williams, a rising star in the NFL in late 2006. Jurors were to begin deliberations Wednesday morning.

But some one thought Willie Clark is a scapegoat.

Jazz past Clips

Players with jazz jerseys appeared much more like a Western Conference for the next three.

The Jazz recovered from another slow start and rolled over the Los Angeles Clippers 107-85 on Saturday night, giving Utah its 40th win of the season in a vital home game that was sandwiched in between road trips. Utah outscored Los Angeles 56-35 in the second half and atoned for getting upset by the Clippers earlier in the week.
“The first half, we couldn’t run on the floor. We couldn’t really do what we’re used to doing,” said Mehmet Okur, who had 27 points to lead the Jazz. “The second was different. We want to be different. We wanted to be active from the beginning.”

Finley signs with Celtics

Michael Finley will wear a celtics jersey to celebrate his 37th birthday.

Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said after practice in Philadelphia on Friday that he expects Finley to join the team in Boston on Saturday and debut the next day against the Washington Wizards.“He’s got high character,” Rivers said. “He’s another shooter. We don’t know where we’re going to fit him in, but adding a veteran can never hurt. Adding a guy who can make open shots can never hurt. Adding a guy who’s been through the wars can never hurt. That’s how we looked at it.”

Finley sprained his left ankle early this season and appeared in just 25 games for San Antonio. He had fallen out of the Spurs’ rotation, prompting him to request to be waived.Finley has scored more than 17,000 points since joining the league with Phoenix in 1995. He also played for Dallas.

Panthers cut Delhomme

Jake Delhomme has to say goodbye to his panthers jersey. This was really a worst season for him.

Delhomme’s agent, Rick Smith, confirmed the move and said Delhomme would wait Friday to talk to reporters. I signals the Pathers intend to go with Matt Moore or someone new at quarterback for the first time since Delhomme burst onto the scene in 2003 and led Carolina to the Super Bowl.“My cap number was a little high, about $5 million. Anything can happen in that situation,” Lewis said. “With all of this stuff going with the CBA, I tried to be realistic. But I thought it was possible.”

“Coach Fox said it was more of an economic deal. He said it wasn’t about the way I played,” Lewis said. “I feel like I had a good season. The only thing I didn’t do was that my sack numbers were down.”

Devin McCourty did a good job

Rutgers cornerback Devin McCourty did a good job at the NFL scouting combine. He nay has the chance to wear the NFL jersey.

His official time wound up being a 4.48, continuing the mystery at the combine between the scouts’ hand times and the electronic times. NFL teams use their own times. McCourty did extremely well in the drills, according to a source, enough so that he’s in the conversation as a late first-round draft pick. He had 14 formal interviews with NFL teams, including the Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and the San Diego Chargers.

"Aside from being a very good corner, he might be the best special-teams player in the whole draft from a return perspective, gunner, jammer, makes tackles," NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock said. "You get quite a package if you draft Devin.”
